The Kenmare is a two-seat booth that relies on proportion and one accent color. The back is a square, softly padded panel; the seat is a thick cushion over an upholstered base; and a mustard welt outlines everything, from the top of the back down the ends to the seat front. The whole piece stands on a dark walnut plinth set back from the upholstery.
Where it works. Lined up along a wall in pairs facing each other, Kenmares create the classic booth row of a café or diner, but in a softer, more residential material. Single units also work at the end of a banquette run or beside a window.
Construction. Hardwood and ply frame; seat on a ply deck with high-resilience foam; back padded over a firm foam layer for upright dining. The back and ends are finished on the outside, so a unit can stand with its back to an aisle.
Choosing bouclé. Bouclé gives texture and warmth but varies widely in durability. For restaurant use we recommend a tightly woven contract bouclé and can supply one, or work with your COM; for heavy traffic, consider a vinyl seat with bouclé back.
Options. Welt color; length (a 48 in two-seater is standard, longer for three); back height; plinth stain. Foams specified to meet CAL TB 117-2013 on request.
