Single, Double & Back-to-Back Booths

A restaurant booth is a self-contained seat with a high back and closed ends, sold as a single (one side), a double (back-to-back, seating two tables) or a pair facing a table.

Single, Double & Back-to-Back Booths

Booths are what guests ask for when they book. They feel private, they hold four people at a table that would only seat four chairs anyway, and the back of one booth becomes the back of the next, which is why back-to-back doubles are so efficient in the middle of a room.

Single, double or wall-mounted?

Booth type Typical depth Where it works
Single booth 22–26 in (56–66 cm) Against a wall or at the end of a row
Double (back-to-back) 44–50 in (112–127 cm) Island rows in the middle of the room
Two-top booth pair 2 × 22 in plus table Small rooms, cafes, breakfast trade
Horseshoe or diner booth Set by table size Family and all-day dining

A standard four-guest booth bay uses two seats facing a 30 in (76 cm) table. With 22 in deep seats and the table edge overlapping each seat by 2–4 in, the bay measures roughly 66–70 in (168–178 cm) wall to wall, which is the figure to use when spacing a row.

Back heights

The common stock heights are 36, 42 and 48 in (91, 107 and 122 cm). At 42 in, a seated guest cannot see over the back; at 48 in and above, the booth becomes a room within a room. Higher backs cost more per foot and need more care at the floor fixing.

All booths here are built to order: lengths, back profile, upholstery, base finish and end panels are your choice, and we can match a run of booths to banquettes elsewhere in the room so the whole floor reads as one design.
