In a small room, bulky seating is the enemy. Most banquette backs are 4.75–6 in (12–15 cm) thick; the Wythe's back is 2.75 in (7 cm), and the seat front is set back about 1.25 in (3 cm). Over a 10 ft run that saves around 3 in of depth, and, more importantly, the whole piece looks roughly a third lighter.
The seat floats on a 4.75 in (12 cm) recessed shadow gap, so the floor reads continuous under the banquette. A slim contrast welt along the top and a fine brass trim provide the detailing, not extra bulk.
Construction. Rigid seat box with a slim engineered back frame, firm back foam to keep support despite the thin profile, high-resilience seat cushion.
Where it works. Narrow dining rooms, cafes, wine bars and any space where the aisle is tight and every inch of depth counts.
Options. Length, welt and trim colors, upholstery (COM welcome), base finish.
